That said:

Brakes on this frightening '55 are stock. Yes, stock. When asked why his big bad business coupe runs OEM brakes, Carroll explains, "These drums are small and light, but their downfall is if you have to stop hard two or three times, you have to replace them. But I have no trouble with the standard brakes.

O_o Holy. Hell. I know exactly how "well" the stock brakes work on my son's '55 Fairlane with its STOCK Y-block. With the kind of power this car is capable of, I'd require an upgrade, to say the least.

I would well and truly rock any one of these cars as my DD for the rest of my natural born existence and die a happy Jalop. ;)

My 68 Montego is no power brakes and all 4 drums.

Stops pretty damn well surprisingly.
